Does Your TABC Certificate Look Different? Here’s Why

If you’ve recently completed your TABC certification and your certificate doesn’t look like one you received in the past, don’t panic! It doesn’t mean it’s invalid or that there’s a problem. The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission’s Seller/Server Training Certification has undergone a facelift. Here’s what you need to know:
Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission Has Made Design Changes
For alcohol sellers/servers in Texas who have just completed the 100% online TABC certificate course to renew their certificate, the design changes between the existing and new certificates are very noticeable! There are several key differences:
- Frame design
- Font
- Layout
- Wording
- TABC seal
- Background seal
- Element placement
The old TABC certificate had an elaborate frame and a large seal in the background. In contrast, the new certificate has the seal in two locations, a clean white background, and new wording referencing seller/server training.
Your TABC Certificate is Still Valid
The TABC may have made some key design changes to the TABC seller/server certificate, but you’ll be pleased to know that your existing certificate in the old design is still valid. All TABC certificates are valid for two years from the date you complete the course. As the new TABC certificate design comes into effect from September 2026, any old certificates issued up to that date remain valid until their expiry. There is no need to repeat the online TABC course before that date.
What Hasn’t Changed
The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission may have given their TABC certificate a freshen-up, but everything else about this important training certification course remains the same:

- Complete the course at your own pace with no timers
- Multiple-choice questions in the final exam
- Valid for two years
- User-friendly course content
- Certificate delivered by email
